Africa: Jump Rope 2002
A Betty LaDuke Giclee Print, valued at $350, is the raffle prize for
the Peace House Raffle. The piece is from the "Children Of the
World" exhibit, which has been shown around the United States.The
piece, painted in 2002, by internationally known artist, photographer,
author and illustrator Betty LaDuke. LaDuke has traveled extensively
throughout Asia, Latin America, and Africa studying, recording and creating
art to share the cultures of the world. "Africa:Jump Rope"
playfully celebrates African culture while emphasizing the experience
of being young, strong, and resilient. LaDuke's multicultural portraits
have been collected in four books and in traveling exhibitions that
have circulated to more than 60 venues around the United States. The
winning raffle ticket will be pulled at the Peace House Dinner September
30 at the Presbyterian Church on Walker and Siskiyou. Raffle tickets
are available for $5.00 from 10-3 Tuesday through Thursday at Peace
House, 543 South Mountain.
