Some particulars regarding this computer:
It is a regular "desktop" computer like one might have at home although this one usually does not have a mouse, monitor or keyboard plugged into it, as it can be administered remotely. A most unusual feature of this computer is that it is not contained in a case or tower like most computers, but the components are arranged on a board, framed and hung on the wall. While this may not be art, it is unusual and fun. There are two drives used by the computer,
a 16 gig 15,000rpm SCSI drive containing the operating system and a 120 gig IDE drive where web pages and other saved files are kept. Several web sites, or domains are hosted here. It was built on the cheap !

Yet another UPGRADE ! (May '07)
Ubuntu Linux 7.04 LAMP server
Pentium 4, 2.8GHz Processor
1 GB RAM
Apache/2.2.3 (Ubuntu) PHP/5.2.1 Server

We had a desire to revert back to Linux as we were no longer chummy with the BSD admins we once knew and had more familiarity with Linux. We'd been installing Ubuntu on our charitable distributed computers since the New Orleans Project (computerdropoff.org) so it was our distro of choice for the wall server. We tried it on SparcUltra 1s and an Ultra 5, a dual-Pentium III but settled on this P4. Our initial attempts using Linux for this go 'round offered frustrationas the network would go down every night without obvious cause. We tried changing the NICs, the cabling and switch, the OS and finally a forum reader pointed out our error. Running well now :)
